The Beauty of Life:

Just this morning, I heard the most inane story. My co-worker was telling me about how her husband’s fish tried to commit suicide. It jumped straight out of its bowl and on to the desk. In the process of thinking about this rather unremarkable story I thought of something. Life cannot be captured in a moment, but what makes it so worthwhile and so precious is those silly stories, grasped moments, whispered secrets, and joined hearts. It is not the great moments that make life worthwhile for they serve to define the events that follow but it’s the casual every day aspects of life that are so precious. So often I think that we forget this. We forget that each minute not spent with our family is one minute that is gone forever. Each moment though is never wasted but always spent. I hope that when I look back I will still hold this thought of value in life. Even when the moment hurts, try to remember that even then you can’t cry when your dead. People in of themselves regardless of whether you hold man to be innately evil are so precious. Each life lived will never be repeated, this applies as much to our own as to the others that touch us. Over our brief flicker of mortality we will miss out on so many other’s lives, but that makes the people we do know that much more special. Each story, conversation, however pointless, stupid or whatever is a part of that person and we are blessed to be able to share that moment. A moment that will never come again. Tomorrow, when we all come together to give thanks, those will be the thoughts in my head and in my heart. Just so you know, all of you are precious in my life and in my heart and I wish that I had more time to spend with everyone in my brief stint of life, to know them, to understand them, and to care for them. For me that is what I will be giving thanks for.

With Love to all,
Nathan
